09.10.2008 Breach of Noise Regulations Costs Company Over £8,000
G.B. Logan Fabrications Ltd of Lincoln has been found to be in breach of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 for failing to reduce the noise exposure of employees from a computer numeric control punch press. Lincoln magistrates fined the company £5,000 with costs of £3,390, G.B. Logan was aware of the high levels of noise, but took no practical action to reduce workers' exposure, relying on the workers using personal hearing protection. It also failed to provide any training in the use of this protection.
